I'm also recovering from a foot injury (fracture of the base of the 5th metatarsal) and I understand your frustration. What helped me a lot was that I could swim and even though I know how to swim well, I have somewhat neglected this great sport lately. Now I feel like I have to swim at least a mile a day!
